PDS Abattoir Sdn. Bhd. A
100% locally owned company, built an international standard abattoir at Kampong
Batang Mitus, Tutong in early 1998. The
Brunei Government accredited halal abattoir began its operation in
December the same year.
PDS Abattoir Sdn. Bhd. is
currently importing slaughter cattle (various breeds including Angus and
Brahman Cross) from Australia to produce beef for the local, regional
and international markets.
The Company’s abattoir
specializes in the production of chilled and frozen western cuts for the
up-market, thereby complementing the existing traditional local halal beef
market. To diversify its business PDS
Abattoir Sdn. Bhd. established a subsidiary company, PDS Meat Industries (B)
Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as PDS Prima Agri-products (B) Sdn. Bhd.) in July
1999 which is run to manufacture halal beef and chicken based food products,
namely sausages, burgers, corned beef, nuggets, meat balls, cold cuts and many
others.
The Company’s abattoir has a
mainly local workforce, which was headed by a team of experienced Asian and
well trained by our previous Australian butchers. For logical reason and to
serve the local communities, most of the local workers were recruited from
Kampong Batang Mitus and the neighbouring villages.
HACCP Certification
has been awarded to PDS Abattoir Sdn. Bhd. last 28th April 2007 in
achieving the standard requirements for an HACCP based Food Safety System,
September 2002 as defined by the “Dutch National Board of Experts HACCP” for the
slaughtering process and distribution of Chilled and Frozen Beef.
Halal guidelines set by
our government and monitored by our in-house Syariah unit are strictly followed
without compromise.
